About

“There’s guns across the river aimin’ at ya. Lawman on your trail, he’d like to catch ya. Bounty hunters too, they’d like to get ya. Billy they don’t like you to be so free.”
Bob Dylan

Billy Hawklyn leaves his Midwest home to seek adventure in high risk smuggling in Mexico and Latin America. He becomes addicted to the money and adrenaline and crash lands in a world of corruption and fast living of the contraband trade. The risks are high but the monetary reward lures him into ever more dangerous endeavors.

Billy tells his incredible story of flights that are filled with mishaps and close calls in the Mexican bush country. Although he uses his God given talents for covert gain, his young life, filled with both victories and defeats is a redeeming tale.

A word from the author…

BackFlapPhoto

“This story tells of the struggles of a young man unwittingly destroying his life. Worldly promises of reward can cause anyone to wander from an exemplary lifestyle.  Pilot For The King is an epic adventure, inspired by true life characters and events, and told as a memoir because of the truths that are woven throughout these tales.

As a biographer I might tell you that everything within these pages actually happened. As a fiction writer I can tell you that same story, yet protect those whose lives have gone on to contribute in positive ways. My goal is to tell a story while pointing to the mercy and grace afforded one individual and not to reveal any hidden dark corners of anyone’s past. I would never inflict damage where I can build and encourage instead.

God has a plan and purpose for each one of us. I pray that underlying message comes out within these pages. That is my objective. For those who see a reflection of themselves portrayed in this book, there is liberty to accept God’s grace and His mercy beyond the story of this one life.

Take from it what you will. But as for this novel of truth and fiction, only God and I know the difference, and that’s the way I like it.”
